Municipal employee shot dead

A 45-year-old employee of East Delhi Municipal Corporation was allegedly shot dead today by an unidentified person in Seemapuri area here.
The incident took place at Seemapuri roundabout at around 7 AM, police said.
The deceased Manoj lived with his family in the G-Block of the area.
"Manoj left his home for office at around 6.30 AM. When he was on his way to the bus stand, his colleague Soni also joined him. When they reached near the roundabout, an armed man opened a fire at Manoj," said a senior police official.
Despite being hit by bullet, Manoj managed to get hold of his assailant and shouted for help.
In the meantime, the attacker pumped another bullet in Manoj's head from point blank range, after which he collapsed and the assailant managed to flee, he said.
Manoj was rushed to the GTB Hospital by a passerby where he was declared brought dead.
Police is questioning his colleague Soni who was accompanying him at the time of incident, and his other friends and relatives to figure out whether he had any personal enmity, police said.
Manoj, a fourth grade MCD employee, is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter, who is married, police said.
