Murugesan visits Goa Shipyard

Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) Vice Admiral P Murugesan today paid a visit to the Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL).
In his maiden visit to the Shipyard, a presentation was made by Rear Admiral (Retd) Shekhar Mital NM, CMD of GSL about the growth of GSL from a barge building yard to a shipyard capable of designing and building state-of-the-art warships for the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard and for exports.
The VCNS was also given an overview of the augmented shipbuilding capability of the shipyard, post its ambitious modernisation programme undertaken over last five years.
He was further apprised of the MCMV Project and the preparatory work being undertaken on all possible fronts including infrastructure, augmentation of manpower and Transfer of Technology (ToT) to embark on the ambitious project.
He was also apprised of the R&D initiatives taken by Shipyard to develop and improve various platforms including OPVs and Fast Attack Crafts (FACs).
Murugesan appreciated GSL's efforts in timely delivery of ships, successful conclusion of Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels (NOPV) project and efforts in hand for undertaking Mine Countermeasure Vessels (MCV) Project as per the committed timeline to Navy.
