Muslims in Nagaland today celebrated Eid ul-Adha with religious fervour and also made sacrificial offerings.
With majority of the Muslim community residing in and around the state capital Kohima and commercial hub Dimapur, thousands marked the day by performing special namaz at idgahs in the two districts.
Nagaland Governor P B Acharya and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio extended greetings to the people on the occasion.
Eid ul-Adha is also known as the festival of sacrifice or Bakrid and Eid ul-Azha.
The governor conveyed his warm greetings to the people of Nagaland and wished for harmony and brotherhood in the society.
Acharya hoped that the sacred occasion will usher in goodwill and harmony and further strengthen the values of composite society everywhere.
"May this Eid bring you cheer, peace and happiness and may it foster goodwill and brotherhood", Chief Minister Rio tweeted.
