Mustardseed prices were down by Rs 78 to Rs 3,925 per quintal in futures trade today after participants cut down their bets amid higher output prospects.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, mustardseed delivery for April month delivery tumbled by Rs 78, or 1.95 per cent, to Rs 3,925 per quintal, with an open interest of 31,240 lots.
Als, mustard for delivery infar-month May surrendered Rs 67, or 1.66 per cent, to Rs 3,968 per quintal, having an open interest of 6,910 lots.
Marketmen said the fall in mustardseed prices at futures trade was offloading of positions by speculators, triggered by reports of higher output prospects at growing regions.
