Mustardseed prices advanced by Rs 75 to Rs 3,870 per quintal in future trade today on the back of heavy buying by speculators on firm spot market sentiments.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustardseed prices for May contracts hardened by Rs 75, or 1.98 per cent, to Rs 3,870 per quintal, with an open interest of 49,100 lots.
Similarly, June contracts surged by Rs 74, or 1.93 per cent, to Rs 3,913 per quintal, having an open interest of 30,720 lots.
Marketmen said huge positions created by speculators, supported by strong demand in the spot markets amid concerns over damage to crop due to unseasonal rains in producing states, helped the uptrend in prices.
