Muzaffarnagar riots: Another gangrape accused arrested

One more accused has been arrested in connection with gangrape cases during the communal riots here last year, raising the number of arrested accused to 19, police said today.
The accused identified as Subhash was arrested yesterday and court has initiated attachment proceedings against him, they said.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the riots had found the involvement of 27 people in six gangrape cases.
However, one case involving five accused was closed later due to unavailability of evidence against them.
19 accused have been arrested out of 22 and three are absconding in the five gang rape cases at Phugana village in the district, police said.

More than 60 people were killed and 40,000 displaced during riots in Muzaffarnagar district and neighbouring areas in September last.
