Amarinder Singh today congratulated Army for its successful anti-insurgent operation along Myanmar border and said it would be "unfortunate" if anyone tries to "derive political mileage out of it".
"It is really a proud moment for all of us with a clear and categorical message to everyone that if you try to mess around with us, you cannot get away with it," the Congress leader said.
"This is a great job done by our Army for which it deserves to be congratulated," the former Punjab Chief Minister added.
Amrinder said, country's interest has always been paramount to the army and the recent operation was also done in the national interest.
He said it will be wrong and unfortunate if anybody tried to "politicise it or derive any mileage out of it".
The senior Congress leader also advised caution and restrain, warning against certain vested interests who were trying to politicise it for narrow and partisan gains.
In a first-of-its-kind cross border operation, special forces of Army had on Tuesday carried out a surgical strike inside Myanmar "with the knowledge of Myanmarese authorities" killing at least 38 insurgents who were part of the groups believed to be responsible for the June 4 ambush that killed 18 soldiers.
