The 89-year-old former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand was rushed to the hospital after vomiting and diarrhoea in the afternoon, his son Rohit Shekhar said.
Preliminary investigations have found that it could be the effect of severe cold and advanced age.
Though his condition is stable, the doctors will be conducting detailed investigation, Shekhar added.
