The constable, identified as Anatho, shot himself dead around 10.30 AM in the barracks inside the museum premises in New Delhi's Janpath. No suicide note was recovered from the spot, a senior police official said.
Anatho was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. His family has been informed about the incident. However, the reason behind his taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
An inquest has been initiated into the matter, DCP (New Delhi) Jatin Narwal said.
