Nagaland Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar today called upon engineers to take up the challenge of timely execution of projects to build better infrastructure.
"Engineers are responsible for timely and smooth execution of small or major projects of the government," Kumar said while addressing the Engineers Day seminar organised by the Federation of Nagaland State Engineers' Service Association (FONSESA) on the 'Excellence through Professionalism."
He said engineers should properly monitor their projects and execute the work smoothly, besides competently managing it.
Maintaining that engineers were a professional group of people on whom a lot of things depend to achieve progress and development, Kumar appealed the engineers to make a pledge to give their best and to take the state to greater heights with their sincere efforts.
In commemoration of Engineers Day, the Chief Secretary released a booklet entitled 'Engineering applications in our daily lives' published by the FONSESA.
Speaking on the significance of the day, FONSESA president R Temsutemjen said the day was celebrated every year marking the birthday of Mokshagundam Visvesvarya, a prominent engineer who was born in 1860 in the then Kingdom of Mysore.
He encouraged the engineers to give their best for the development and advancement of the country in general and the state in particular.
Chief Engineer (Transmission and Generation), Department of Power, K Miacheo urged FONSESA members to strive, cultivate and promote the rich engineering ethics and culture, safeguard common interest and contribute towards all round development of the state.
