The new Governor expressed 'sincere hope' that the government may live up to the aspirations of the people and fulfil its duties and responsibilities.
Asserting to uphold the highest traditions of the office and work for the principles that are sacred to democratic values, the Governor said, "Our actions must be result oriented and purposeful."
Acharya was speaking at a reception hosted by the state government at State Banquet Hall here last night.
He said "peace is essential for all round development of the state and without peace, no society can progress."
Maintaining that peace requires understanding and appreciation of differences, the Governor said peace can only be achieved when there is unity in diversity.
Nagaland is peopled by diverse tribes and hence, it is in its diversity that unity can be achieved and a bond made of trust and brotherhood, he said.
