Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday asked all parties to send names of their MPs for constituting standing committees.
Sources said Naidu gave a final call to all parties ahead of adjourning the Rajya Sabha for this session.
They said eight department-related standing committees under the Rajya Sabha control are to be formed by August 14.
The chairman said if not done, MPs of those parties would not be a part of the committees.
Naidu's direction assumes significance in view of the opposition's demand for referring Bills to standing committees for scrutiny.
According to sources, the government may propose in the Upper House of Parliament on Wednesday to send some Bills to select committees.
