The 50-year-old 'White Collar' star, who adopted Nathen, 12, in 2009 said the process was a smooth transition, reported People magazine.
"We had a smooth transition because we both wanted this adoption. Fatherhood is what I always wanted it to be," the actor said, adding, "I wanted it so badly and he wanted it so badly. I think often it can be difficult because it's not that balanced."
The single father said he is happy he adopted Nathen at the age of 7, because he feels he would not have been able to handle a newborn or a kid younger than him.
