Nation that respects its martyrs progresses: Haryana Guv

Any nation that respects its martyrs and their families makes progress, Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today said.
"Any nation or society which respects its martyrs and their families always remains at the forefront and makes progress," Solanki said.
He was addressing the inmates of Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre (PRC) during its 37th Raising Day celebrations here. The Governor also announced to give Rs 10 lakh for the centre here out of his discretionary quota.
"Besides honouring our brave soldiers, we would have to fulfill all their requirements so that they could effectively discharge their duties by taking benefits of the various facilities as per the changing times," he said.

"Our soldiers always remain alert to protect the borders of the country. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the government and the society to provide them adequate facilities so that they can live a comfortable life," he said.
He lauded the PRC here for providing medical and rehabilitation facilities to brave soldiers for the past 36 years.

On this occasion, the Governor also witnessed a wheelchair basketball match played by the inmates. He appreciated their performance and encouraged all outstanding inmate athletes by giving them gift packets.
The Governor also inaugurated a newly constructed accommodation block.
Maj Gen S K Razdan (Retired), the only paraplegic officer who has risen to the rank of General Officer, was also present on the occasion.

He also visited various projects being undertaken at the institute to empower the inmates by giving them vocational training in knitting with computerised machines, cutting and tailoring, candle-making, wire brush making and caning of chairs to make them self reliant.
