"A group of Naxals torched four vehicles of a private company engaged in construction of Dantewada-Katekalyan Road near Pandum village," a senior official told PTI over phone.
"The vehicles, including a road-roller, two tipper trucks and a JCB machine, were parked at the construction site where road widening work was going on," the official said.
Around a dozen ultras reached the construction site in the afternoon and threatened the labourers, who were engaged in the work, to leave the place, the official said adding that after torching the vehicles, the Maoists escaped from the place.
A police team was sent to the site when labourers informed them about the incident.
A search operation was on to apprehend the ultras, the official added.
