"We are focusing on educational institutes in rural areas to kick start our cadet expansion drive to take the number to 38,000," NCC group commander Brigadier Rajan Kochhar told reporters here today.
At present there are 18,000 cadets in 16 district of western MP. Around 10,000 youth are waiting to join NCC, he said.
Indore-based NCC group headquarters chief said that a new battalion of NCC will be raised in Barwani district. Similarly, a girls NCC battalion will come up here in addition to the one already existing.
Under this, 16,000 cadets of Indore, Ratlam, Khandwa and Ujjain will demonstrate 12 different postures of Yoga in 33 minutes duration.
He demanded that the MP government on the lines of state governments in south India, should give bonus qualifying marks to NCC cadets in academic courses entry tests and job recruitment examinations to encourage youths to join NCC.
