The NCP today hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his failure to ensure 'achche din' (good days) to the people and claimed that nothing has changed for farmers, youths and other sections of the society in the past one year.
"Where is Achche Din for the people that you (Modi) had promised during general elections last year?" NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar asked and said nothing has changed for for the masses including farmers, youths and others in nearly one year of NDA rule.
Taking a swipe at Modi over his Rs 10 lakh suit, Anwar said the Prime Minister himself has been a beneficiary of 'achche din'.
Criticising the act, he said a leader who talks of betterment of farmers, youths and poor people does not wear costly suits himself which amounts to mocking at prevalence of large-scale poverty in the country.
Modi has not endeared himself to the people by putting on an embroidered suit costing Rs 10 lakh in a country whose freedom movement was by led by Mahatma Gandhi known for leading a frugal life and wearing loincloth, he said.
Claiming that the masses have lost faith in the Narendra Modi government and taught the BJP a lesson in Delhi Assembly polls earlier this year for its failure to deliver goods to them, Anwar, a Lok Sabha MP from Katihar, alleged that the BJP has resorted to "divisive politics" to deflect attention from the failure of the Central government.
The BJP has been seen to be replicating the British colonial rulers' policy to divide and rule to deflect focus from its unfulfilled commitments made during elections, the NCP leader alleged.
