NDFB militant killed in encounter in Assam

An NDFB-Songbijit faction militant was killed and another ultra injured in an encounter with security forces in Kokrajhar district of lower Assam today.
The 'section commander' of the anti-talk underground outfit exchanged fire with a joint police and army team at village Odang near Karigaon at around 9 AM, IGP-BTAD L R Bishnoi said.
The slain militant was identified as the outfit's Kenduguri 'section commander' N-Wongtinlang, a resident of neighbouring Chirang district and belonged to the 35th batch of trained cadre of NDFB-S, Bishnoi said.
A 7.65 mm pistol, two magazines, eight rounds of ammunition and three live grenades were recovered from him, the IGP said.
Another extremist was injured in the encounter but managed to escape into the nearby jungles, he added.
