Need to explore opportunities for legal education: US lawyer

Stressing over the need to explore opportunities for legal education, a former bar president of USA today said legal professionals should promote ethical responsibilities, assure justice and protect human rights.
Addressing a meeting of law schools of various countries, Bill Robinson, former President of American Bar Association said in today's scenario, information technology has enabled people to conduct their business more efficiently and also to get connected in many ways.
"Society today is evolving with a growth in population and cultural mix resulting in a more sophisticated society. This has opened more avenues for public service...There is not only a need to reach out to the most vulnerable but also to communities to assure legal justice and protect human rights," Robinson said at the Law Schools Global League meeting, which was hosted by Jindal Global Law School here.
The law schools also decided to collaborate with each other in the areas of human rights and global justice, sustainability law and law and innovation, a statement issued by Jindal Global Law School said.
Speaking on the occasion, O P Jindal University Vice Chancellor C Raj Kumar expressed concern over the quality of legal education in the country.
"There is also a need to evolve new curriculum to meet the challenges posed by globalisation," he said.
Several law schools from the US, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Netherlands and Germany participated in the discussion on transforming the landscape of legal education.
