Actress-turned-filmmaker Divya Khosla Kumar says even though she is a director, it is important for her to look good as youngsters follow her.
The 34-year-old "Yaariyan" director said the new generations takes her as an inspiration.
"Fashion is very important. One should always look presentable. Since I direct youth-oriented films, youngsters follow me and take inspiration from me so it is very important for me to dress up properly. I can't be shabbily dressed.
"Directors usually have an image of being too casual when it comes to fashion. But as a women, it is very important to be prim and proper. I don't go and sit in parlour for two to three hours that's not my cup of tea, but I make sure I am nice and well dressed," Divya told PTI on the sidelines of the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016.
The director walked for designer duo Priyangsu Maji and Sweta Tantia's label Garo, a luxury brand of contemporary Indian wear for women.
Their collection "Femmes di Tahiti" was inspired by native Tahitian prints, colours and motifs. The garments were easy flowing silhouettes having a soft handloom chanderi, cotton matka, woven bapta silk and chiffon textures with vibrant colours.
On her professional front, Divya, who recently had a decent success stint with her film "Sanam Re", starring Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam in lead roles, will start working on her next project after a month.
"Right now, I am resting as I did two movies back to back. I am just trying to rejuvenate recover and get back to my healthy self. I will again do young movie. Within a month I will get back to my work. And start brain storming on my next project," she said.
Asked if she has any plans to launch her own clothing label someday, Divya said she is creative, but has already spread herself a lot and would stick to making movies.
