"There is a need to think about the research in the medical fields. We need to re-orient our thinking in the field of research," Vardhan said at a function held at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Health Institute and Medical Sciences (NEIGRHIMS) here.
According to him, as long as what we do in the laboratory and what we publish in the journal has no practical benefits for mankind in terms of perceptible and medical difference, that kind of research will only have a "theoretical meaning".
Stating that the time for routine and casual approach is over, the Minister said, "We have run our country with this casual routine approach for over sixty five years now. Now the country has to look ahead at the younger generation which I termed as 65 difference demographic dividends that we enjoy with a lot of hope. The country needs to further prosper further if it tends to create a better present than its glorious past."
Claiming that whatever research that is happening today is being given to the rest of the world by India, Vardhan said, "All the research being done by the great Indian scientists right from the first century is being translated to various other languages including Arabic and European (ones) during the later stage.
