Nepal committed to holding polls in free,fearless manner:Regmi

Nepal is committed to hold next month's Constituent Assembly election in a free and fearless environment, chairman of the council of ministers Khil Raj Regmi said today.
Regmi expressed this while meeting Eva Joly, chief of the Election Observation Mission of the European Union (EU) and member of the European Parliament at the Prime Minister's Office at Singhdurbar.
He warned that action would be taken against those attempting to foil the election and carrying out activities against the existing law.
Regmi said that the government is involved in the mission to hold the Constituent Assembly election slated for November 19 with a view to draft a new Constitution, according to sources at the Prime Minister's Office.

During the meeting, they discussed on various issues of mutual interests and relations between Nepal and EU.
Joly told Regmi that she was informed by the observers deployed in different places of the country that the CA election is being held in a free and fearless environment.

A total of 100 observers are being deployed by the EU for the election.
Meanwhile, Regmi took stalk of the latest security situation of the country ahead of the polls during a meeting of chiefs of various security agencies in which chiefs of all four security agencies, including Nepal Army and Nepal Police were present.

They discussed about ways to conduct the election in a free, fair and fearless manner, said a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office.
Regmi instructed the top security officials to step up security arrangements in view of the incidents of violence ahead of the election.
The CPN-Maoist cadres yesterday torched vehicles belonging to Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala at Banke district in the western Nepal and Nepali Congress candidate Narahari Acharya here while they were involved in election campaigning.
