"We have promised constitution to our people within a year. May Lord Buddha lead our leaders and lawmakers towards fulfilling their commitment.
"The upcoming constitution should address interest of all people and respect all religions," President Yadav said while addressing a gathering after inaugurating the International Buddhist Conference in Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha.
As per the agreed calendar, January 22, 2015 is the deadline for the promulgation of the constitution.
The Buddhist philosophy inspires the world to follow the path of peace and the meeting would be fruitful to publicising about Buddhist philosophy and Buddha's birthplace Lumbini, Yadav said.
The four-day conference, being attended by Buddhist scholars from 30 countries, aims at conserving and promoting Buddhist culture and heritages, the organisers - Theravada Buddhist Academy and Myanmar-Based Sitagu International Buddhist Academy said.
