The incident took place at 5:30 am near Camp III of the mountain, when 26-year-old Dendi Sherpa and Swiss national Urets Hans Rudo, 28, were heading towards the peak, a Tourism Ministry official said.
The snowslide occurred at an altitude of around 6,000 metres. Situated in eastern Nepal, Mt Amadablam's summit lies at an altitude of 6,812 metres.
The deceased Dendi Sherpa was a native of Solukhmbu district in North-East Nepal.
Dendi's body was also airlifted to the Nepalese capital.
