The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) today said it plans to launch its new curriculum by 2016, which would be a global one in future.
"The Committee on Review of Education and Training is in the process of finalising the curriculum and suggestions and feedback have been sought from students and other stakeholders," ICAI President K Raghu told reporters here tonight.
Discussions on various issues like whether to have an open book system and need for specialisation were also held, he said, adding that after placing all the suggestions before the public for comments, the curriculum would be put up to the ministry for approval, which was expected to be ready by 2016.
Raghu said Chartered Accountacy was of late becoming very popular and there was plenty of opportunities in India and abroad. A young CA would draw an average of Rs 7.37 lakh per annum, as the scope for the profession has widened to almost every sector, he said.
The Institute was coordinating with the Centre, which has come out with new ideas for economic reforms, including the 'Make in India' pitch of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said.
Raghu said ICAI has launched a 'flexi working portal' for women members as part of its Women Empowerment Initiatives, in which 2,000 job seekers and 150 companies have registered till date.
