The 25 newly elected members of district council (MDC) of the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) were today sworn-in as members of the council by Siaha District Council Court President today, official sources said.
The new members comprised of 17 ruling Congress party members, five Mizo National Front (MNF) members, two Mara Democratic Front (MDF) members and one independent member.
Swearing-in ceremony of N Zakhai as chief executive member (CEM) of the MADC was deferred for tomorrow as the council officials received the letter of approval from the state Governor in the afternoon.
Zakhai was elected as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) by the 16 newly elected members on Monday after the announcement of the results of the MADC polls held on May four and in which the ruling Congress swept the polls.
