Employees of newspapers and news agencies will hold a demonstration here tomorrow against the "inordinate" delay in the implementation of the Majitha Wageboards' recommendations for journalists and non-jounalists.
The call for the demonstration has been given by the Confederation of Newspapers and News Agencies Employees Organisations (CNNAEO).
At a meeting here, it was decided that the employees of the newspapers and news agencies would assemble in front of the Press Trust of India and hold an hour-long demonstration before proceeding to Press Area at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg where they would agitate against the managements for "deliberately delaying" the implementation of the Wageboards' recommendations by dragging the issue to the Supreme Court.
CNNAEO members also decided to hold demonstrations against the "adamant attitude" of the newspapers managements till the disposal of the case in the Supreme Court.
General Secretary of CNNAEO M S Yadav said journalists and non-journalists were frustrated and were facing financial constraints due to non-implementation of the Wageboards' recommendations which came after 14 years.
Among those who attended the meeting were N K Tirkha of NUJ (I), Madan Talwar (AINEF), C K Naidu of Indian Express, Suresh Akhouri of IJU, M L Joshi of UNI and Rajbir Singh and K S Shankar of PTI Workers Unions.
