The National Green Tribunal (NGT) is setting up its east zone bench shortly to try environment-related cases in West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and eight north east states, NGT member Ranjan Chatterjee said here today.
"The bench will be based in Kolkata and will try cases also from Andaman and Nicobar Islands," he said at an advocacy workshop here.
New Delhi hosts the principal bench of NGT. Benches have been already set up in Bhopal, Pune, and Chennai, he added.
