NHPC Q1 net up 7.5% to Rs 858 crore

Income from operations increased to Rs 2,196.79 crore, from Rs 2,001.67 crore in the year-ago period

State-owned NHPC on Friday reported a 7.47% rise in standalone net profit at Rs 857.82 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016.

The company had posted a standalone net profit of Rs 798.17 crore in the year-ago period.

Income from operations increased to Rs 2,196.79 crore, from Rs 2,001.67 crore in the year-ago period.

Total expenses of the company during April-June period increased to Rs 1,178.67 crore, over Rs 1,078.48 crore in the corresponding period of previous fiscal.

NHPC, a mini ratna firm, is a premier organisation in the country for development of hydropower. In 2015-16, NHPC power stations achieved generation of 23,404 million units.

According to the company's website, NHPC is presently constructing five projects of total installed capacity of 4,290 MW, including the 1,000 MW Pakal Dul project being executed through a JV company.

Ten projects of 7,151 MW are awaiting clearances/government approval for their implementation, including three projects of 1,186 MW to be executed through subsidiary/joint venture companies.
