NHRC holds hearing on farmers' suicides in Telangana

The National Human Rights Commission, headed by its chairperson K G Balakrishnan, today conducted a public hearing here on the issue of farmers' suicides in Telangana.
It directed the state government to file a report on the various welfare activities for the benefit of farmers.
During the hearing, the NHRC chairperson directed some civil society activists, who represented the matter, to promote awareness among the members of farming community on different aspects.
The petitioners had sought the Commission's intervention on the issue farmers' suicides.
