"We have suspended ongoing protest of wearing Black Ribbon along with proposed Mass Leave on August 23 as the government has accepted our demand for promotions. Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) quickly responded when he learnt about our agitation. We are thankful to ME&IT secretary for expeditious action," All India NIC S&T Officers Association President B N Shetty told PTI.
AINOA has been pressing for elevation for NIC staff, most of whom have been working with the same designation for the last 10-11 years.
In a letter to NIC scientists, AINOA said Electronics and IT Secretary Aruna Sundarajan has assured the association that "the decision of ACC/DoPT (Department of Personnel and Training) would be received shortly and all steps would be taken towards the promotion quickly".
Further, the secretary also promised that any minor issue adversely affecting any individual will be addressed simultaneously, it added.
AINOA will closely monitor further developments and follow up with authorities to issue a formal order from DoPT or ME&IT (Ministry of Electronics and IT) for commencement of promotion in the next 15 days.
