Nickel prices were up 0.81 per cent to Rs 706.20 per kg in futures market today as speculators raised their bets amid a firming trend overseas and spot demand.
Sentiments at futures market here turned better after nickel led gains in base metals in global market on demand optimism and pick-up in demand at the domestic spot markets from alloy-makers, analysts said.
In futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in the current month gained Rs 5.70, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 706.20 per kg in a business turnover of 591 lots.
The metal for delivery in February rose Rs 5.10, or 0.72 per cent, to Rs 711.10 per kg in six lots.
