Nickel futures rose by 1.21 per cent to Rs 637.80 per kg extending gains for the fourth session in a row, on strong industrial demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in August rose by Rs 7.60, or 1.21 per cent to Rs 637.80 per kg in business turnover of 841 lots.
The current month contract of the metal rose by Rs 7.40, or 1.18 per cent to Rs 633.30 per kg in 4905 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by participants on the back of firm demand from alloy-makers at the domestic spot markets, mainly kept nickel prices higher at futures trade.
