The 50-share Nifty resumed lower at 8,302.75 and hovered in a range of 8,342.85 and 8,277.95 before concluding at 8,334.60, showing a marginal loss of 4.75 points, or 0.06 per cent.
The CNX Auto index also fell by 2.08 per cent and IT by 1.85 per cent while Bank Nifty rose by 1.14 per cent.
Major CNX Nifty losers were Tata Chemicals (14.24 per cent), Tata Motors (5.19 per cent), M&M (3.19 per cent), Sun Pharma (1.94 per cent) and Infosys (1.93 per cent).
Turnover in the cash segment rose to Rs 17,897.25 crore from Rs 14,363.15 crore yesterday.
A total of 6,942.22 lakh shares changed hands in 72,60,365 trades and the total market capitalisation of the NSE stood at Rs 99,35,713 crore.
