Foreign capital outflows also affected the market sentiment.
The CNX Nifty resumed slightly lower at 8,232.45 and hovered in a range of 8,137.30 and 8,236.25 before concluding the day at 8,224.20, showing a loss of 11.25 points, or 0.14 per cent.
Yesterday, it had gained by 108.50 points or 1.34 per cent.
Major Nifty losers were Lupin (3.41 per cent), followed by VEDL (1.56 per cent), HCL Tech (1.28 per cent), Infosys (1.12 per cent) and Kotak Bank (1.10 per cent).
Turnover in the cash segment fell to Rs 16,096.24 crore from Rs 18,580.27 crore yesterday.
A total of 7,411.16 lakh shares changed hands in 76,040,86 trades and the total market capitalisation of the NSE stood at Rs 97,92,407 crore.
