Nine killed, five injured in Egypt stampede

Nine people were killed and five others injured in a stampede in northeastern Egypt early today, the army said.
The incident occurred when several families, seeking to meet cadets, gathered around the Army Institute's gates in Tel Al-Kebir, Sharqiya governorate Ismailia, northeast of Cairo, said the spokesperson of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Mohamed Samir.
The five wounded in the accident were rushed to nearby hospitals where they were recuperating.
In the statement, army sent its condolences to the families of the victims adding that the parents' gathering outside the institute was the violation of regulations for visitors.
