Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today launched a pan-India Uber challenge -- UberPITCH -- which will give a chance to startups to pitch for their ideas before venture capitalists during a cab ride.
The challenge was launched under the Uber Exchange programme for 28 cities across India.
Shortlisted entrepreneurs will get to pitch their business ideas to investors and venture capitalists, during a specially organised Uber ride. With just a push of a button on Uber's app, startups would get a chance of getting advice from top investors and venture capitalists.
Commenting on it, Uber in a statement said that selected entrepreneurs would get seven minutes for pitching their idea during a ride with Uber.
UberPITCH finalists will also feature among the top 10 startups that will be flown to the Silicon Valley to meet the leadership team at Uber as well as exchange notes with big- ticket investors.
Speaking at the occasion, Sitharaman said the government is committed to extend support to startups.
Rachel Whetstone, Senior Vice president, Communications and Policy, said that the company is committed to enable the growth of the startup ecosystem in India and both UberExchange and UberPitch are aimed at deepening the engagement.
