"The North-Eastern market has a huge potential for us. There are some difficulties, but it is a good market for small cars. We have strong focus in this market," Nissan Motor India Managing Director Arun Malhotra told PTI here.
The North-Eastern region contributed around 3-4 per cent to the company's domestic sales of 42,000 last financial year, he added.
"This market is growing. We expect around 20 per cent growth in our sales in North East during the current fiscal and it will contribute around 5 per cent to our national sales," Malhotra said.
"Currently we have 14 outlets in the seven states. By the end of March 2017, we will increase our outlets to 22," the MD said.
The company today launched a new dealership at Shillong in Meghalaya.
Nissan Motor India has 219 outlets across the country and plans to increase it to 300 by the end of this fiscal, he added.
