Niti-led panel discusses digital payments with state officials

A Niti Aayog-led panel, which is looking into digital payments for all government-citizen transactions, today made a detailed presentation to chief secretaries of all states on easy digital payments.
The government think tank today tweeted that the committee made detailed presentation on easy digital payments to Chief Secretaries of States across India.
"CEO @UIDAI,Secy @FinMinIndia,Secy @GoI_MeitY, along with CEO NITI, take suggestions and q's of Chief Secys across India on #digitalpayments," Niti Aayog tweeted.
With an aim to weed out black money and corruption from public life, the government last week had said that it has constituted a committee to look into digital payments for all government-citizen transactions.

The Committee of Officers, under the leadership of NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, will identify and operationalise in the earliest possible timeframe user-friendly digital payment options in all sectors of the economy, an official statement had said.
This is integral part of the government's strategy to transform India into a cashless economy, it had added.
The statement had said aim of the committee is to identify various digital payment systems appropriate to different sectors of the economy and coordinate efforts to make them accessible and user-friendly.
The committee will also identify infrastructural bottlenecks affecting the access and utility of digital payment options.
