The Bihar government today added five days of leave for its employees in the calender year 2017 on account of 350 Prakash Parva and centenary celebration of Champaran Satyagraha.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Principal Secretary Cabinet Coordination department Brajesh Mehrotra while briefing reporters about the cabinet decision said three days of leave from January 3-5 has been approved while two days of leave would be given on April 17-18 for celebration of centenary year of Champaran Satyagraha, Mahatma Gandhi's first landmark agitation against British rule.
The proposal of the General Administration department for granting five days of additional leave in 2017 was taken under Leave and Negotiable Instrument Act, Mehrotra said.
The 350 Prakash Parva on the anniversary of Guru Govind Singh was marked from December 25 to January 5, 2017.
The state cabinet gave its nod to 20 agendas of different departments in today's meeting.
In another decision, the cabinet approved a proposal to name the department concerned with liquor ban as 'Prohibition, Excise and Registration' to lay emphasis on prohibition.
