"People should inculcate the habit of planting at least one tree or plant every year in their houses," Kumar said.
"Planting trees is a must for protecting the environment and enhancing natural beauty. It saves us from the harmful effects of climate change like too much heat, drought and too much rain," he added.
The Bihar Chief Minister has made it a point to plant a few trees on the occasion of the World Environment Day every year.
The aim was to increase it to 15 per cent by 2017 by planting 24 crore trees, he said adding, in 2014-15 financial year, around 12.71 crore trees were planted across the state.
