Nitish seeks proposal for drinking water, toilet to every home

Expressing his commitment to provide drinking water and toilet to every household in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today instructed officials to prepare a proposal to this objective by January 15 next.
Kumar gave his direction to official of Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) while reviewing its functiong here, an official statement said.
PHED minister Krishnandan Prasad Verma and Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh were present during the review meeting by the CM.
Connecting every household with drinking water supply and constructing toilet in every home form part of Kumar's "seven resolves" which has now been adopted by the grand secular alliance government.
To counter Prime Minister Narendra Modi's special package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore along with Rs 40,000 crore of previous schemes of the central government, Kumar had come forward with his "seven resolves" during elections at an estimated cost of Rs 2.70 lakh crore.
Kumar directed officials to prepare a proposal to achieve the two objectives by January 15, 2016.
He laid stress on involvement of masses to achieve the twin objectives.
Kumar instructed officials to make people aware against misuse of water for proper use of drinking water.
The CM said PHED department would construct toilet in houses which does not have the one at present through "Lohia Swachaha Bihar Abhiyan".
