"We appeal to the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to regularise the services of all daily-wagers, casual employees and seasonal labourers engaged in various departments of the state government after March 1994," NMC President Subash Shastri said today.
He asked the Chief Minister to take decision in this regard before the Assembly elections in the state are announced.
"The decision in this regard must be taken before the Assembly elections are announced as then the model code of conduct will come in force," Shastri said.
"They are not given salary every month. Beside regularising the services of these workers, the state government should also provide all perks and allowances available to the Central government to these workers, including pension benefits," he said.
