No arrests in Har church vandalisation case

No arrests have been made in connection with the vandalisation of an under-construction church in Kaimri village near here as tension prevailed in the area with the villagers demanding that cases be withdrawn against those among the booked with "no hand" in the incident.
Police is trying to resolve the matter between the representatives of Williwarsh church and the villagers as a dispute arose after the under-construction site was vandalised by some miscreants and idol of a Hindu god was placed inside its premises in nearby village Kaimri, Superintendent of Police in-charge Saurabh Singh told mediapersons today.
Singh disclosed that PCR vehicle has been deployed in the village to control the tension which prevails after the incident.

14 people were booked for rioting, damaging place of worship, theft and promoting enmity following a complaint lodged by the church priest on March 13, but no arrests have been made so far, he said.
The police took away the Hanuman idol and a red-coloured flag which have been kept at Sadar Police Station at Hisar.
Meanwhile, some villagers called on Sub Divisional Magistrate Ashish Bansal here and demanded withdrawal of cases registered against those "who had no hand in the incident".

They alleged that priest Subhash Chand was trying to construct the church despite the fact that there was no Christian in the village.

The villagers claimed that the priest had bought the plot to build a house but started converting it into a church.
The priest claimed that certain activists of Bajrang Dal and others had threatened him earlier.
He alleged that the same people could be behind the attack on the church.
Chand lodged a complaint against 14 people, following which a case was registered by the police under sections 147 (Punishment for rioting), 153A (promoting enmity between groups), 295 (destroying, damaging a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class of persons), 380 (theft in a building), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

The complainant said that the accused fragmented the cross and installed the statue of Hanuman, a flag depicting Lord Ram and threatened to kill him.
He alleged that they stole a cooler and some items from the worship place that was under construction.
