The Centre today dismissed reports that the Ministry of Defence had raised a bill of Rs 650 crore against the Jammu and Kashmir government for rescue and relief operations carried out during the devastating floods last month.
"I have checked with Ministry of Defence. No such bill has been raised. There is no truth in the reports," Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami told reporters here.
A local newspaper last week reported that the Centre had raised a bill of Rs 650 crore against the state government for rescue and relief operations carried out by Army, Indian Air Force and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
