Since the Model Code of conduct came to effect, the election department and Income Tax department have seized about Rs.25.56 crore during vehicle searches across the 10 assembly constituencies.
Of this about Rs.24.18 crore was returned to the owners, after showing valid documents for possessing the money, official sources said.
However, there were no claimants for Rs.1.34 crore seized from two passengers of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation early this week,which have been kept with Income tax Department
Another Rs.2.49 lakh unclaimed money was kept in the Government treasury,they said.
