There will be no reduction in the reservation for students from Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in admissions to medical courses in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said today.

He was replying to a question raised in the state Assembly on whether reservations mandated by the Constitution would be affected due to theregion-wise quota for admissions in medical colleges.

Seeking to assuage such fears, Fadnavis said, "The OBC reservations will stay and there will be no reduction even by 0.05 per cent. If such instances come to our notice, the admission process will be stopped."
