Kerala government today condemned the obstruction of transport of water for the famous Lord Sri Krishna temple in Gurvayur by a group of persons.
Minister for Devaswom and Tourism Kadakampally Surendran also said there would not be any disruption for collecting water for the 'Prasada Oottu' (feast) festival as alternative arrangements had been made.
"It has been ensured that there would not be any problem for collecting water for the temple festival," he said in a statement here.
Condemning the last night incident when the group of persons obstructed transport of water to the temple, he blamed 'misunderstanding' created among a section of locals by some with political motive for the untoward incident.
Collecting water from the property of a private individualwas prevented by a group of people headed by two councillors belonged to Congress and IUML, he said.
He said alternative steps had been taken to ensure enough water for the feast.
Earlier in the day, the issue had also figured in the state assembly during a discussion on the subject of moral policing.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala had alleged that 15,000 litres of water meant for the temple was drained by some people in the presence of police.
He had blamed the police for the incident.
