Shiromani Gurdwara Pharbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Sigh Makkar today called for observing a black day on the occasion of Diwali, in light of a series of sacrilege incidents reported in the state.
SGPC secretary Daljit Singh Bedi said that there would be no lighting arrangement or decoration of fancy lights in the Golden Temple on Diwali, besides no cracker shows.
Makkar requested the Sikh community not to light candles, fancy lights or decorate their houses this festive season, in protest against the series of sacrilege incidents of holy Guru Granth Sahib across the state.
