In its 19th report submitted to Lok Sabha today, the Committee on Government Assurances, has said that it is "distressed to note that despite repeated assurances given on the floor of the House" on the issue, the formulation of policy framework regulating functioning of schools affiliated to foreign boards has not happened.
The panel observed that the first assurance in this regard was almost eight years ago.
The Committee said that in June 2014, the Department of School Education commissioned a study through NUEPA to study the schools affiliated to foreign boards and their functioning.
The panel also asked the HRD ministry to act in a manner that the proposed law to prevent and prohibit unfair practices in school education is enacted without further delay.
The committee also noted that a Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) report is awaited in the matter related to extension of Right to Education (RTE) Act to secondary stage of education. The committee asked the HRD ministry to impress on CABE to expedite its report.
